By the Calender winter is still a few days away, but tonight it's supposed to get down to -2c (28) brrrrrr with a high tomorrow of 15 (59)
And where is my husband? Well in Darwin where he is the low is 22c (71) with a high of 32 (89).
All I can say is thank goodness for goose down and flannel sheets. With out them I don't think I could survive Paul being clear across the country from me.

The trend continues. Just like Microsoft, they're all veering to the right. But in this case, it's Google, one of the most liberal companies on the planet. Appoint a senior Bush clone to a senior position in the company and tell me he's not going to veer the company to the right. The trend continues.

Grrrrrrrrr will they soon control the whole Internet???
Here's the phone number to Google's headquarters if you want to give them a call and let them know how you feel about them hiring Dan Senor: (650) 253-0000

Also here's the address to another good search engine: http://yahoo.com at least until Google comes up with an answer.
The Australian Government has dismissed Japan's insistence that its whaling program is for the purposes of science, with Environment Minister Ian Campbell describing Japanese practices as "sick" and "absurd".

A Japanese fisheries official has hit back, saying Mr Howard does not understand the scientific value of hunting whales

"What the gentleman from the fisheries agency of Japan is saying is it will take a small core above the whale's ear to determine how old it is and then chop the rest of the many tonnes of whale meat up and send it into Japanese fish shops and school tuckshops.
Senator Campbell says he believes Japan plans to roughly double its whaling program and expand the hunt to include humpbacks.

2,000-year-old Chinese tombs destroyed by housing developer's bulldozers

BEIJING (AFP) - A hundred Chinese tombs more than 2,000 years old have been crushed or buried to make way for a housing project in Inner Mongolia province, state media reported.

The destruction, backed by the local government, continued even though the Helinge'er county site was one of the largest and best-preserved cultural heritage sites in China, the Beijing Youth Daily said.

I suppose there are still plenty of reasons to get out of bed everyday
I just got back from dropping Ian's lunch money that he forgot this morning.
There were two police vans at the school and when I asked Ian what was going on he told me that a kid got hit by a car and was in pretty bad shape. That's the second time in 2 years! What is wrong with this picture???
Last year Ian and I saw it happen, a boy ran out from the curve where a bus was parked and ran smack dab into a on coming car, the woman driving didn't stand a chance there was no way that she could have seen it coming and no way for her to brake in time (she was going very slow even below the speed limit at the time), in fact he hit her on the side of her car. But today I have no clue what happened. It's a worry when children don't seem to have any respect (or maybe they just don't know any better) for safety, and even a bigger worry that cars don't slow down more around schools. We are talking about a High School here. I know that the roads should have been designed better around the school for one thing. I hate hearing about these things, I hope the kid pulls through and can recover normal, and I feel awful for the driver of the car.
Good news about the boy hit by a car this morning, he is fine but bruised up pretty bad. Turns out he was late for school and in a hurry, but he was on the cross walk which is clearly marked and flagged, even a speed bump of sorts and the car hit and run, since he was late there were no adults outside to see what happened but a couple of 9th grade boys did see it and got the plates of the car. So someone out there is going down.
My question here is what effects in the long run is all this killing doing on the American (and others) boys over there, how are they going to be when they get home. It can't be healthy. But no that's not my only concern, I just wonder if anyone thinks about this stuff. If my boys were over there I sure would be worried if they had to take a human life.

US forces have shot dead a child which they say was being used as a human "shield" during an exchange of gunfire near the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.
Iraqi civilians often complain that US forces open fire indiscriminately when attacked, leading to innocent people being caught up in the crossfire.
"American forces opened fire on a minibus in the Dura district, in southern Baghdad, killing three people and wounding four others," said a defence ministry source.

"There was an incident. There was a bus that was shot at in south-east Baghdad but I can't say what time. The details are sketchy and we don't know who was involved," said US military spokesman Lieutenant Jamie Davis.

Bus driver Abbas Abbas said that US troops opened fire after he pulled over to get out of their way.

"I was driving in front of a US convoy in Dura. They were driving fast so I pulled over, and when I did, they opened fire, killing three male passengers and wounding two," Mr Abbas told AFP from Yarmuk hospital where he was being treated for wounds.

Seven other Iraqis were killed in the capital earlier in the day in a drive-by shooting and a suicide car bombing, an interior ministry source said.

Four policemen and two civilians were wounded in the attack.

Meanwhile, the US military said one of its soldiers died in a road accident near Tuz, 160 kilometres north of Baghdad, on Tuesday.
