A bizarre string of coincidences has linked the death of four New Zealanders killed in three road incidents in the past fortnight.
In the first crash Chad James Arnold, 15, and Amy Gardiner, 22, were killed in a collision on March 16.
Chase Dix, 17, who attended their funerals last Wednesday, died the next day in Waikato Hospital after falling while car-surfing.
His father, Greg Dix, said a woman who saw his son's death outside her home then died at Horotiu, near Hamilton, on Sunday. Doreen Isobel West, 56, died when her car was hit by an oncoming van on State Highway 1.
A CYCLIST who ran down and killed a pedestrian during one of Melbourne's notorious Hell Rides believed it was too dangerous to stop at a red light, an inquest heard yesterday.
James Gould, 77, was hit while crossing the road in Mentone, in Melbourne's southeast, on August 26 last year and later died in hospital.
William Raisin-Shaw admitted to police he was the rider who hit Mr Gould.
Raisin-Shaw has been charged with failing to stop at a red light which carries a maximum $215 fine.
