Do I really have time to update?
Jan. 8th, 2006 09:01 amWell I'll start with the fire.
I got Ian up and out of bed around 11:00 in the morning, it was an extremely hot day (around 100F), I was trying to get Ian's bike loaded in the car so we could get it in to the shop and get his breaks fixed. Funny thing is I noticed a strong smoke smell in our garage that morning. We even looked around in the garage but Ian noticed the sky seemed a little hazy so we just figured there was a fire somewhere off in the bush. We got back around 12 and still noticed nothing. Then I ran Ian to the Pool about an hour later and could still smell a smoke smell. Paul and I did some shopping and when we got home around 3 We saw a police car sitting just down the street and wondered what he was doing on our block (it's a pretty quiet place). When I was getting ready to pull in to the garage we noticed our front hose was across the driveway. We still didn't figure it out. Got in the house and the neighbor lady was pounding on the door. She had used our hose there had been a fire truck here and everything. It was on the side of the house that no one really ever pays any attention to. Don't have a clue how it started but it burned a few of the bushes and melted wires and thank god it didn't catch the gas lines just inches from the phone cables. Sad thing is our Neighbor as a feeling that Ian was some how involved in causing it. I can tell by the questions she is always asking me the last few days. IAN HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!!! Just because he is a teenager she doesn't want to know him. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Anyway it's a drama, and a mystery to how it started. I hope she gets over this prejudice against Ian, she's lucky to have such a nice kid living next door to her. I have much more I want to update about but Paul is waiting behind me to Play his train game. Hope everyone had a wonderful new year.
I had to post this as I read it this morning from

Just read this from the NYT:
Jesus Christ people. Do something. Anything. Our troops are dying because Bush won't give them their armor. It's been 3 years. Do you think you could maybe, just once, do something when an issue is handed to you in your lap. And just as importantly, our troops are dying. How about, oh I don't know, fixing the frigging problem because we don't want them to die - even those of us who think this war is a disaster really want to do all we can to stop our troops from getting killed, hell, that's one of the major reasons we're against this war in the first place.

Just read this from the NYT:
A secret Pentagon study has found that at least 80 percent of the marines who have been killed in Iraq from wounds to their upper body could have survived if they had extra body armor. That armor has been available since 2003 but until recently the Pentagon has largely declined to supply it to troops despite calls from the field for additional protection, according to military officials. They killed these people. And the Democrats are still whining that they can't get their body armor amendment passed. I COULD GET YOUR STUPID AMENDMENT PASSED WITH THESE KIND OF FACTS.
