I just got back from dropping Ian's lunch money that he forgot this morning.
There were two police vans at the school and when I asked Ian what was going on he told me that a kid got hit by a car and was in pretty bad shape. That's the second time in 2 years! What is wrong with this picture???
Last year Ian and I saw it happen, a boy ran out from the curve where a bus was parked and ran smack dab into a on coming car, the woman driving didn't stand a chance there was no way that she could have seen it coming and no way for her to brake in time (she was going very slow even below the speed limit at the time), in fact he hit her on the side of her car. But today I have no clue what happened. It's a worry when children don't seem to have any respect (or maybe they just don't know any better) for safety, and even a bigger worry that cars don't slow down more around schools. We are talking about a High School here. I know that the roads should have been designed better around the school for one thing. I hate hearing about these things, I hope the kid pulls through and can recover normal, and I feel awful for the driver of the car.
