Your bubble wrap should last forever as the Australian winter is very short. If it really works as insulation, you might think of using it in summer as well - keep the house cool.
I couldn't believe the difference in Temperature when you placed your hand on the bubble wrap compared to the glass. Only thing is during the summer if it got to hot it might fuse with the glass
