Republicans have suggested linking Social Security benefits to a person's race or gender.
Don't let them get away with it.

Senate Democrats who oppose President Bush's Iraq policy spoke today against Condoleezza Rice's nomination to be secretary of state, signaling that they intended to vigorously oppose the administration's foreign policy despite their minority status.
By midafternoon, six Democrats had spoken against Ms. Rice's nomination, accusing her of deliberately misleading the American people and being an architect of a tragic and unwise war and a bungled postwar effort at peacekeeping.

Date: 2005-01-25 11:32 pm (UTC)The administration's point man on Social Security in the House, Rep. Bill Thomas (R-CA), recently suggested in an interview that Republicans may try tying Social Security benefits to the race or gender of the recipients.
What does that mean? Was it taken out of context perhaps? Because it sounds a little far fetched. Maybe a link to an article or the actual "interview" might back up the case a little stronger. I don't buy it.
