Easter
Good Friday is a day when all stores are closed and everyone gets a day off. (even thought Australia doesn't seem to be very Christian)
Easter it's self is more like a normal day.
When I was little I had never heard of the easter bunny, it was later when I had nephews and nieces, but I still had a light hearted attitude towards the whole concept, here it's as important as Santa, children believe. It's so commercial! I do remember though it was time to get a new outfit to wear to church on sunday morning, hat included. Something very new and spring like. My favorite part was easter breakfast with all the trimmings.
Easter here is the beginning of winter coming, changing over of the summer clothes to the winter wardrobe, all the autumn colors yet because most things commercial are geared around the northern hemisphere easter displays in stores still have that spring look to them. And it's a 4 day weekend for most workers.
Today I'm going to bake a ham, have those wonderful flavored mashed potatoes with steamed veggies, and "baked this morning scones". Ending off the meal with my pots of chocolate for desert. Alex is coming over and we might just get a chance to get out and get some photos of the lovely colors of the trees.
Happy Easter everyone.
