I'm upset

720 gorillas in the wild, yep folks that's it. I started thinking about how many animals have become extinct since I was born.
How many animals are close to extinction now?

Humanity

It's so good to see Al Gore receive the Nobel Prize. I hope more and more people follow his lead to work towards the education we need to survive the future. I just hope that people will vote for the right Men and Women to lead our world into the hardships we are all going to face. We need Leaders that will stop the fighting and work together to figure out how to keep humanity alive. How to feed everyone when there is no water to grow crops, how to shelter us from the storms.
I can't understand people that have children and don't seem to care at all about what the future is going to be like for them. I don't understand a world where monks shout out for the poor people of their country and are killed for it.
I don't know about your children but mine voice their opinions to me and they are loosing hope for their future, it's not like I can
pat them on the back and tell them everything is going to be ok.

I'm upset.
Soon the Gorillas will be a thing of the past. But it's also much more then that.
Sorry if I upset anyone but really maybe more of us need to get upset.

... and less than a thousand tigers, less than a couple of thousand of Blue whales and almost every other large mammal numbers in the thousands. All of their populations declining.

I can understand how you feel, because every day when I open my browser for wildlife news, those are exactly the thoughts that go through my head.

s.bear started to cry when he saw the polar bear ad on tv. he now goes around turning off lights to save the polar bears.

and yes.... how to explain to a seven year old child how stupid and uncaring the grownups are about his future. :-( :-(

There are so many things we are losing, and it does seem that most people don't care. What is particularily troubling is the recent slaughter of gorillas by guerillas with automatic weapons. Pure malice. No 'reason'.

Gore needs to do even more. As do we all.

Spot on.

I'm glad that people are starting to get aware of environmental and humanity issues, but so much more needs to be done.

We need strong leaders who aren't going to lead us to war, but rather, to a world-saving effort.
